About Gamma Pi Chapter
Gamma Pi was founded on October 28, 1950 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. We've been around 68 years and going strong!
Our chapter is a part of Delta Zeta Region 6. We currently have a total of 69 members in our chapter and our average GPA is 3.21! For the academic year Fall 2016 through Spring 2017 our chapter has donated 1653 service hours and $2599.12!
The Gamma Pi Chapter at Western Michigan University has the number one spot in cumulative GPA in the Greek community.
Laine DeMorrow, Academic Chairman, has worked to inspire the chapter as a whole to increase their GPA. The new member retention rate was 98 percent and the new member GPA average was 3.38. Each month, members record study hours and attend study events, located at chapter houses and partnered with other sororities and fraternities.
The Gamma Pi Chapter (Western Michigan University) has raised $3,835 to date in its Hike for Hearing efforts. "Our goal is to reach $5,000 before our hike in March!" said member Gabrielle Sweezie, who served as the chapter's LAMP Editor last year.
The chapter has been truly giving in its community to help where members see a need. Gamma Pi donated 27 jugs and a case of water to help the city of Flint during its water crisis. The chapter gave 3,780 philanthropy hours in the Fall 2015 semester.
At Western Michigan University, the chapter was awarded for the highest sorority GPA for the Fall 2015 semester out of eight sororities on campus. The chapter was also declared Intramural Volleyball Champions for the Fall 2015 semester.
