DZ takes on Homecoming Court

During Fall 2018, Vivian Nguyen knew that she wanted to put her sorority on the map at UT Arlington. Campus elections were just around the corner, and with a leap of faith and support from her sisters, she decided to run for homecoming queen. It has been a while since any Delta Zeta ran in campus elections, but she and her sisters were determined to have a Delta Zeta representing on homecoming court. After 19 hours of campaigning, Vivian did not have the confidence to go to attend the election announcements, but her sisters attended in her honor and cheered her name on when it was announced. The time, determination, and hard work it took were worth it in the end when Vivian was able to show UTA that a Delta Zeta is worthy and capable of doing amazing things on campus. Vivian explains that this homecoming campaign was not only to shine a light on Delta Zeta, but also to encourage "all the girls in elementary, middle, high school, and college who think that they always have to be the one behind the scenes. You deserve to have your moment too and to show others who you are!"

Delta Zeta and The Doberman Rescue

ARLINGTON, TX- The Iota Psi chapter of Delta Zeta encourages all of its members to follow their individual passions for service and philanthropy. Rachel McLaughlin, a colonizing member of Iota Psi, takes her love for community service to new heights by extending her passion for service to a local animal rescue and to her sisters.

Rachel helped colonize the Iota Psi chapter of Delta Zeta in Fall 2016 at the University of Texas at Arlington’ wanting to help other women reach their goals and have a place to call home during they collage days. McLaughlin was looking for a local service project that she and her new sisters could get involved with. Far from home she missed her family dogs and the calm they brought her; she wanted to give back to the breed that had given her some many fond memories of home. In the search for a local service project, she combined her love of Dobermans and her need to give back when she started volunteering with the Doberman Rescue of North Texas.
