Here is how the Kappa Rho Chapter (Kutztown University) made helping others their mission

The Kappa Rho Chapter makes it a mission to help others. The chapter began by raising money for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. In the beginning of the first semester of the 2016-2017 school year, Kappa Rho hosted an event called Laser W?rZ.

"Kappa Rho brought the fun of laser tag right to campus!" said member Ashley Stokes. "Other sororities and fraternities on campus helped support us by signing up for teams to raise money. During the event popcorn and water was offered to fuel the players."

The event raised $639 for Starkey and everyone enjoyed a successful and fun event.

Kappa Rho didn't stop there. The chapter hosted Mac and DZ, an event at multiple locations throughout Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Macaroni and cheese was sold throughout the night to those who passed by. "Not only was it a great way to raise money for Starkey and speech and hearing," said Ashley, "but it was a wonderful bonding time with our sisters." Kappa Rho raised $400 to donate to Starkey.

During the cold winter months, Kappa Rho members got together and hand made blankets for The Berks Women in Crisis Center in Pennsylvania. They donated piles of handmade blankets to help the women of the Center. The Center helps women who have been in abusive domestic situations and need a safe place to stay.

Kappa Rho Chapter supports The Painted Turtle camp and Speech and Hearing at Kutztown University

The Kappa Rho Chapter held its first annual Paint-A-Turtle event at Kutztown University. Shannon Bohling, Vice President of Philanthropy, planned and advertised the event, and many other Greek organizations on campus made donations to support The Painted Turtle camp.

The chapter is also hosting "Listen Carefully Week" to raise money for Heart for Hearing and inform the students of Kutztown about speech and hearing. During the week, events and information tables will provide more information about Delta Zeta's philanthropy on a national level. "Kappa Rho is extremely excited to kick off the week, and will continue to proudly represent Delta Zeta at Kutztown University," said Briana Hafer, LAMP Editor.

Kappa Rho Chapter (Kutztown University) provides to women and children in need

The Kappa Rho Chapter at Kutztown University showed the true meaning of giving this past semester. The chapter's local philanthropy, The Berks Women in Crisis Center, located in Reading, Pennsylvania, provides a safe haven for women who have been in domestic crisis. The women's shelter gives families a second chance to make a better life for themselves.

This spring, members collected hats, gloves and scarfs for the residents of the shelter. The chapter campaigned on campus and through social media, as well as making the drive a part of their spring recruitment to show potential new members how Delta Zeta helps the community.

Shannon Bohling, Philanthropy Chairman, initiated the clothing drive to support the chapter's local philanthropy. She said, "We hope to make the drive an annual event to provide winter necessities to women and children at the shelter."

"Kappa Rho's members' hearts were warmed with joy as we provided warmth to the women and children," said Briana Hafer, LAMP Editor. "We will continue to give to others and show exactly what it means to be a part of the sisterhood of Kappa Rho Chapter and Delta Zeta."
