Lambda Lambda Chapter hosts Pink Goes Green Week at The College of New Jersey
April 14, 2016

During the week of March 21–24, 2016, the Lambda Lambda Chapter at The College of New Jersey supported Pink Goes Green. Members encouraged fellow students to educate themselves about environmental friendliness and ways to go green. In an effort to spread awareness about eco-friendly advantages, Lambda Lambda hosted several fun and engaging events throughout the week.

On March 21, Red Berry frozen yogurt partnered with the chapter to host a fundraising event, with 20 percent of the proceeds were donated to The Painted Turtle camp. On March 22, World Water Day, Lambda Lambda members sat in Alumni Grove, outside the dining hall and library, and sold baked goods. Money from these sales went to the Marine Science Center to help rehabilitate injured turtles by supplying them with food and medicine, along with supporting educational programs about pollution, the lifecycle of turtles, and how the ecosystem works.

Later that night, TCNJ’s Environmental Club gave a recycling presentation, where members learned which items to recycle. On March 23, Lambda Lambda Chapter put its newly-acquired environmental knowledge to the test. Members cleaned up trash and other contaminants around the lake on campus and put each piece of litter in the proper bag.

Pink Goes Green Week ended on March 24. Lambda Lambda members asked students to sign the pledge to go green. They were rewarded with a free “Pink Goes Green” button. "Overall, this week gave sisters the opportunity to learn about the environment in a fun and exciting way," said member Kaleigh Maffei.
